Calculating noise volumes
Calculating noise volume
The following example describes the individual work steps for calculating the noise volume (Fundamentals: Noise calculation according to RLS-19).
Determining shares of vehicle groups
If the p1 - p3 shares are not yet available as attribute value, it has to be specified first.
1. Load the demand matrix for the car and HGV demand segments (Opening matrices). (You can skip this step if you only have the daily volume available)
2. Run an assignment for the demand segment car and HGV (Setting and calculating the parameters for PrT assignment).
Note: The assignment can be performed with all assignment procedures. |
3. Calculate the HGV shares (Calculating attribute values from the values of other attributes)
4. On the program toolbar, click the Open 'Procedure sequence' window symbol .
The Procedure sequence window opens.
5. In the desired position of the procedure sequence, insert the Noise calculation according to RLS-19 procedure from the Miscellaneous category (Setting up and starting the procedure sequence).
6. Make sure that the inserted operation is marked and click the Edit button in the Operations section.
The Parameters noise calculation according to RLS-19 window opens.
Element |
Description |
Total traffic volume |
Hourly values If the option is selected, you can select a link attribute Attribute for traffic volume that contains the hourly traffic volume M of the vehicle group. Average daily traffic (DTV) If you only have the daily volume available, select this option. The calculation of the hourly values for the noise calculation is then performed according to Table 2 of RLS-19. The time-of-day you select is used for this. Select the link attribute Attribute for traffic volume. |
HGV/Motorcycle shares |
From default values table You can determine the shares for HGVs using Table 2 of RLS-19. The shares for motorcycles are then automatically set to zero. From link attributes You can select a corresponding link attribute for HGV1, HGV2, and motorcycle, which contains the respective share of the vehicle group. |
Time-of-day |
Select the time-of-day for the calculation.
Time-of-day information is required to use Table 2 of RLS-19 to determine hourly volume values or HGV shares. |
Speeds |
For each vehicle group, select a link attribute that contains the speed. |
Multiple reflection |
Consider reflection Select a link attribute that specifies whether reflection is taken into account for a link. Height (h) [m] Select a link attribute that contains the height in meters. Distance (w) [m] Select a link attribute that contains the distance in meters. |
Confirm with OK.
The length-based acoustic power level is calculated per source line. The result for each link is written to the link attribute Noise.
